Atomic workers will be congratulated on their professional holiday throughout Russia

On the day of the professional holiday of the nuclear worker, themed events will be held in several cities of Russia. This year the town of Sosnovy Bor in the Leningrad Region will be especially distinguished. The city is one of the most important in the Russian nuclear industry, as it houses the largest branch of the Leningrad NPP. Festive events in Sosnovy Bor will take place two days in a row - September 28 and 29, 2018.

Holidays will not only be rich in cultural events, but also devoted to acquainting people with the intricacies of the work of nuclear scientists. On Friday, an atomic-themed quiz with prizes and gifts will be held at the Andersengrad children's play complex, and in the evening everyone can enjoy opera performances. On the second day, September 29, a brass concert will take place at the same place, followed by a demonstration of the cognitive program "Adventures in Atomland".

Atomic Worker's Day in Russia is a relatively young holiday. On the territory of the country, it began to be celebrated only 13 years ago. The holiday was officially included in the calendar on June 3, 2005 by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, where the constant date for the holiday was chosen - September 28. This day was not chosen by chance: exactly 76 years ago, the State Defense Committee of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) issued an order "On the organization of work on uranium." In addition, the committee gave the go-ahead for the opening of a laboratory at the Academy of Sciences for the study of the atomic nucleus and thus secretly proclaimed September 28 the “birthday” of the country's atomic energy.

Today, more than 250 thousand people in Russia work in the nuclear power industry. Thanks to them, Russian homes have warmth and light, and the country is one of the world leaders in the production of nuclear equipment.
