In the new year, or to be more precise, in the last days of the past, 2017 - December 29, the last of the amendments to the 306th law regulating the salaries of military personnel came into force. These amendments did not in any way affect the military salaries and the system of additional payments and allowances.

The amendments deleted from the law references to engineering and road construction military units.

They are connected with the reorganization of the so-called Spetsstroy, which was finally liquidated in the fall of 2017. The functions of the faulty agency, which was mired in corruption, which is impermissible even by Russian standards, were transferred to the Ministry of Defense. At the end of the year, some administrative measures were taken to improve the management of special construction, and on December 29, the amendments affected several federal laws at once.

What the system of seniority allowances looks like for military personnel in 2018

Monthly seniority allowances for the Russian military are calculated in 2018 according to the previous scheme:

  • length of service 2-5 years - 10%,
  • length of service 5-10 years - 15%,
  • length of service 10-15 years - 20%,
  • length of service 15-20 years - 25%,
  • length of service 20-25 years - 30%,
  • length of service 25 years or more - 40%.

This scheme does not change and will hardly change in the coming years. Objectively speaking, the state at the moment simply does not have the money to dramatically increase any allowances for the military.
