Mk knitting plaid. Crochet baby blanket patterns: do-it-yourself cozy blanket. view. Plain square

A master class on crocheting a blanket.

Reception of knitting "grandmother's square". The scheme is taken from the Internet.
I knit my grandmother's square without an air loop between the columns.
The initial chain consists of 5 chain stitches.

The blanket is knitted of two types of yarn.
Pekhorka "Children's volumetric" 400m / 100g acrylic 100% color in skeins orange - 5, natural - 3.
Pekhorka "Children's novelty" 200m / 50g 100% acrylic. The colors in skeins are brown-earthy - 4, red - 3, dark red - 2, blue - 1.
Total yarn will need 1300 g.

Description of knitting a plaid

We distribute the yarn to the central part of the blanket and to the border. The central part took 30% of all yarn and all colors. Although it looks more massive, nevertheless, the main yarn goes to the hem.

The central part of the blanket

The central part is made of squares in free colors. To create a country style (rustic) there is no geometric sequence between the center squares. Warm color squares are arranged around individual cool color squares. There is even a square, consisting of many small squares, to create it I used all the ends that I have formed as a result of trial samples. This is not necessary if you do not have small thread ends.

The central part is made of 24 squares. Each square is connected from 12 rows by a "grandmother's square". Each square is attached to the previous one in the last row. When all the squares are connected, they need to be tied around the perimeter with 1 row "grandmother's square". Use the color that you will then tie around all the other small squares of the border. I have a brown earthy color. I used a dark color to highlight the bright and warm border colors. And divide the border zones.

Border

The first circle of the border consists of two types of squares. Tie 22 squares each consisting of 5 rows of "grandmother's square".

1 view. Plain square

2 view. Square with a flower inside

Cast on a natural thread a chain of 6 air loops, close it in a circle. Tie the resulting ring with 12 single crochets. Close the last loop, do not cut the thread, leave it at work.

With an orange thread, in each loop of the bottom row, make 12 lush columns. Knit 3 air loops between the columns. At the end of the row, close the loop and cut the thread.
Lush column: yarn - extended loop - yarn - extended loop - yarn - extended loop, knit all yarns and loops at the same time with an air loop.

The next row is made in natural color. In terms of the number of columns, it corresponds to the 4th row of the "grandmother's square"

We tie the 5th row with the same natural color. We close the last loop, cut the thread.

We tie each square with a thread of the color that you decided to use for tying (a common row of the central part). Tying the squares, we connect them together with single crochets and connect them to the central part.

For each large square, there are 2 small squares along the edge.
When all the small squares have been closed in a full circle, we tie a blanket around the perimeter 1 row - brown-earthy color, 3 rows - orange, 1 row - natural color, 3 rows of red, 1 row - natural color, 1 row - brown-earthy colors. In total, you need to knit 12 rows so that the next circle of small squares fits along the length of the sides. And the squares of the third circle were symmetrical to the squares of the first circle.

We knit the third circle, consisting of 3 types of a small square, corresponding to the type of a square with a flower inside. The squares differ in the color of the flower inside. In total, you need to knit 60 small squares, 20 pieces of the same color.

The next circle of strapping is performed around the perimeter. I have run out of earth brown, but there is still a lot of blue left. Blue looks deeper and orange stripe stands out brighter. We tie around the perimeter row 1 - blue, 3 rows - orange, 1 row - natural color, 1 row - dark red, 1 row - blue. There are 7 rows in total. I could have knitted further, but I ran out of threads.

Square and stripe connection technology

All squares are connected by single crochet. When 3 columns of the working row have been knitted, we knit 1 single crochet into the arch of the square with which we connect. We connect the corners as follows: we knit 1 stitch, then a single crochet under a chain of 3 stitches, 1 stitch, then crochet stitches in the rows of "grandmother's square".

The photo shows the place where the edge is bound at the junction of two small squares. Under each corner chain, 3 double crochets are knitted.

The first and last squares on the sides of the strapping with corners are attached to the arch between the posts.

The subsequent squares with corners are attached to the fan itself of 3 columns, behind the central column.
The plaid is 180x210 cm in size. Easy to clean and easy to handle.

It is easy to knit a stylish blanket with knitting needles. If you know how to knit a scarf, then you can easily knit a blanket for your cozy home. There are 3 ways to knit a blanket here. Whoever likes what is more. It is better to decide on this issue, so to speak, on the shore, before starting sailing, that is, knitting. To make the journey enjoyable and the result delightful.

1. Plaid knitted with circular needles.

This is a smart choice of tool, since the canvas is large, and keeping it hanging all the time is not an exciting prospect.

1) This blue plaid is tied with braids.

Blue plaid plaits

The motif of the pattern is extremely simple, 6 knit loops for the braid and 6 purl loops for the track between the braids, again 6 knit loops, etc.

Braid pattern

I love to knit braids and plaits, it turns out quickly. How is it here, to knit 4 rows, make a braid weave, knit 4 more rows, make a weave again, you see, I've already knitted 5 centimeters. It is convenient to count, not nervous, the drawing is voluminous, the canvas is soft and beautiful.

Blue plaid pattern scheme
Now, there is already something to warm your knees.

This is how it looks in a couple of three days, well, for anyone, of course. Now it is autumn and the blanket will be ready for the winter cold, but now, on rainy autumn days, you can cover your knees with your half-ice while working. Cozy.

2) Plaids blue and beige with fringes are also knitted with circular needles

But instead of embossed braids, a pattern is chosen here. This is good because both the wrong side and the face will have the same rights.

Beige plaid

Description of how to knit blue or beige fringed blankets:

Scheme for a blue and beige fringed plaid:

Note: Comments have suggested that there is a typo in the description of the fringed blanket in the weight of the skein. I would like to explain why these dimensions are indicated.
Here are options for how to knit a blanket with knitting needles from two different types of yarn. You will get such a blanket using both yarn and the other. The cunning alpaca, present in the first version, fluffs up the thread. A skein of such yarn is light and voluminous, and you stroke it like a kitten. There is a peculiarity when knitting. The thread, as it were, stretches out, it is very plastic, and in the finished product it gathers a little and the canvas becomes more voluminous. And in the second version, there is no yarn for an alpaca blanket, but almost 80% acrylic. Acrylic is more organized thread, does not stretch and is not as lightweight. This is the secret.

A magazine offering patterns for blankets wants to show that you need to be creative in knitting, choose what you like, read the recommendations for choosing yarn and knitting needle numbers, but check everything on samples.

I took a photo of various yarns and patterns. I cannot insert a photo in the comments, so I had to do it in the article.

So, for example, for yarn with alpaca from Pekhorka, with the weight and length of the thread almost as in the magazine (there is more alpaca in the composition, therefore there is more fluff), 4mm needles are recommended. But in the reviews I see both 3mm and 4.5mm.

And a photo of a yarn and a sample with a yarn of 50% wool and 50% acrylic. It was this kind of yarn 50-50 from Alena, who raised the issue of a typo and asked which knitting needles to knit. The question is in the comments at the bottom of the article.

Only a knitted pattern will help you understand how much yarn and what knitting needles you need to knit a blanket.

3) Stole, which plays the role of a plaid.

I knitted this stole for a long time, but, in fact, I never used it with a stole, but as a blanket, it took root with us, it's a pity that I did not immediately realize to knit wider. Although the description said that this pattern would look good on a bedspread or rug.

Even our cats are cramped to huddle on such a narrow product.

Cats on a blanket

Take a closer look at this pattern, it is good because the inside of it is also attractive, it is mirrored to the face, only where there is a bulge on the face, concavity on the inside.

I have attached the scheme according to which I knitted the stole, for a blanket it is not necessary to knit corners with tassels, so you can start knitting right from row 53, and you need to calculate how many loops you need to cast for your blanket according to the usual scheme. Cast on 15-20 loops, knit with a pattern, close, wash, dry and count in the middle of the sample how many loops are in a centimeter. I did so, since I knitted not with cotton, but with half-woolen yarn.

4) Cozy blanket with a heart.

Schemes and description of knitting a plaid with knitting needles

The choice of plaid patterns, as well as patterns, and methods of knitting them, is huge. It is also worth paying attention to whether a warm blanket is knitted for adults, or still for children - after all, this is also an important criterion for the selection of yarn and patterns. For the smallest, blankets should be knitted according to certain rules - we will definitely tell you about them. In general, it is a whole art to knit a good blanket. Let's try to figure it out and consider both the lightest knitting master classes and more intricate options for knitting blankets.

Master class for beginners

Beginner knitters should definitely start by learning the most understandable and simple options for knitting blankets. Consider a master class for beginners on knitting a blanket.

This plaid model is perfect for newborns or adult children. The blanket turns out to be pleasant, delicate and soft. And knitting it with knitting needles will not be difficult because of the knitting method taken as a basis: a simple two-sided pattern of front and back loops, as well as for the edge of the product.

 • What is needed

Yarn: "Svetlana" production "Semenovskaya yarn", 250 m / 100 g, 50% wool, 50% acrylic.
Yarn consumption: 350 g.
Tools: circular knitting needles No. 3, knitted needle.
Knitting density: basic knitting Pg = 2.25 loops in 1 cm, Pv = 3.2; Garter stitch Pg = 2.14 stitches in cm, Pv = 4.3 rows in 1 cm.

 • We calculate the loops

To calculate the number of loops that need to be typed on the knitting needles for knitting a blanket, it is necessary to determine the density of knitting in basic and garter stitches. Learn more about how to determine knit density.

When calculating the loops, we must take into account the desired size of the product and the pattern repeat. As for the size, the standard size of a baby diaper is 80 x 80 cm, we will focus on it. We need the pattern on the blanket to be symmetrical. Therefore, you need to add loops to the whole rapports for the symmetry of the pattern. You also need to take into account the width of the slats along the edge of the blanket. We will knit strips with a width of 2.5 cm, these are 7 loops (including the hem). This means that we need to knit 80 - 6 = 74 cm with the main knit.One repeat of the main pattern is equal to 18 loops or 8 cm.For symmetry, we need to add half a repeat, i.e. 9 loops or 4 cm.It turns out that for whole rapports there are 74 - 4 = 70 cm. Determine the number of whole rapports: 70: 8 = 8.75, round up to a whole, we get 9 rapports. So, number of stitches in basic knit:

9 (number of whole rapports) x 18 (number of loops in a rapport) + 9 (number of loops for pattern symmetry) +7 (number of loops for one plank) x 2 = 185 loops.

But we know that the knitting density (Pg) of the finishing garter stitch is less than the basic one. This means that the bottom bar is not too loose and does not look stretched, we need to recalculate the loops.

Let's clarify the final size of the blanket: 185 (number of loops) x 2.25 (Pg basic knitting) = 82 cm.

Now let's define how many loops need to be cast on the knitting needles:

82 (part size) x 2.14 (Pg garter stitch) = 175 stitches.

 • Main pattern

Double-sided check pattern of front and back loops with a relief texture. Pattern rapport: 18 loops wide, 24 rows long. To knit a pattern sample, the number of loops is a multiple of 18 plus 2 edge loops on the knitting needles.

Scheme and description:

- classic front loop in the front row, unless otherwise indicated in the description of the pattern. In the purl row, the purl loop is indicated.

- classic purl loop in front row, unless otherwise indicated in the text. In the purl row, this is how the front loop is indicated.

1st, 3rd, 9th, 11th row: * 9 facial, 9 purl *;

All purl (even) rows are knitted according to the pattern;

5th, 7th row: * 3 facial, 3 purl *;

13th, 15th, 21st, 23rd row: * 9 purl, 9 facial *;

17th, 19th row: * Purl 3, facial 3 *.

The pattern is repeated from rows 1 to 24.

 • Working process

We type 175 loops on the needles in the main way and knit 11 rows in garter stitch. We will arrange the edge a little differently than usual: we will not remove the first loop in the row, but we will knit the front loop behind the back wall.

Fig. 1: Working thread runs down and back. Fig. 2: The loop is knitted behind the back wall of the front

We knit the last loop in the row as usual, with the front loop.

In this case, the edge of the edge will stretch more. Considering that the horizontal knitting density (Pg) of the main knit is less than that of the finishing knit, this will allow the bar to stretch and compensate for the difference.

If the knitting density of the main and finishing knits differ significantly, we recommend knitting the bar in shortened rows.

In the 11th row, we will make straight yarns to add loops. We make additions evenly. We will knit 11 loops (including the hem), make a straight yarn over, and then make yarn overs through 18 loops (pattern repeat). In total, 10 yarns will be obtained along the length of the part. In the next row, we move on to the main pattern. At the beginning and end of the row we knit 7 loops in garter stitch and then with the main pattern. We knit yarn over the back wall, without openwork, so that the addition is invisible.

In order for the plaid to be square in height, we need to knit 11 rapports (264 rows) with the main pattern. In the last row, we subtract 10 loops in the same places where we added, knitting two loops each with a tilt to the left. We tie the bar and close the row in the classic way.

Product for a newborn

It is very important and responsible business to knit a blanket for a newborn. Whether it's a gift to a family of loved ones or to yourself for the first birthday of a baby, you need to consider several important points when knitting the first warm blanket in a baby's life.

When choosing yarn for knitted children's clothes, you should pay attention to the composition: it is better to choose a yarn where there is wool with a part of acrylic, or merino wool, or baby alpaca with an admixture of microfiber. Be sure to make sure that the threads do not prick the skin, even if the label says that the yarn is intended for knitting children's clothes.

Let's try to knit another simple blanket that a beginner can make. And they will help to knit a blanket for a newborn with knitting needles schemes and a detailed description.

Plaid from squares

It is also successfully used in knitting - for this, pre-knitted motifs with different patterns are sewn or linked into a single product. This knitting method is very popular, so you should definitely try to knit a blanket from squares with knitting needles. This is not difficult to do.

Knitting options for a plaid of this typethere are quite a lot, as well as design solutions that can "revive" it: make traditional squares of all possible colors, or choose only a few harmonious shades of yarn for a blanket. Some knit blankets from squares in a monochromatic version, focusing only on the variety of patterns of connected motifs. The squares themselves can be flat, or can be decorated with convex elements, which will also add a patchwork charm to the finished product.

We have selected an "advanced" option for knitting a blanket with squares, so that it would be interesting for experienced knitters. It will take a little more time and effort, but the result is definitely worth it.

And this is how the process of knitting a simple blanket from a master class for beginners looks like:

Knitting such a thing as a blanket with knitting needles is a painstaking business. Not every craftswoman can cope with it. But it's worth it, because the blanket knitted with your own hand is distinguished by a special energy and beauty.

Such a product will not only be an elegant interior decoration, but also a reliable protection from the winter cold - hiding with it, it is so pleasant to spend time reading your favorite book or over a cup of hot tea.

Features of knitting a blanket

Plaid is one of the pleasant household items. Sitting in an armchair in the company of a warm, cozy blanket, knitted with your own hands or by the hands of a loved one - what could be better than this, especially in the cold season. In addition, as the photos of a knitted blanket show, a handmade blanket can become a luxurious decorative detail.

It is customary to highlight the following advantages of this hand-knitted product:

 • aesthetics;
 • practicality;
 • functionality;
 • uniqueness;
 • environmental friendliness.

Charts and instructions for correct knitting can be found online. Having decided to knit a blanket yourself, remember an important point - you should not save on yarn. A thing knitted from low-quality threads will not last long.

Knitting options

Today there are many ways to knit a blanket. This is knitting from squares, knitting with braids and much more. Knitting of a blanket from the rest of the thread is quite popular. Which option to choose depends only on your desire.

Many needlewomen prefer knitting from individual motives. It is considered the most simple and convenient. You can knit in this way in any setting - at home, at work, on the bus, subway. The disadvantage of knitting from motifs is the final assembly of the product. It is still the best knitting method for beginners.

We knit a blanket. Large knit

Blankets and bedspreads made of thick threads are considered a fashionable trend this year. It's not very practical, but stylish. It is better to use tops or a combed ribbon as yarn.

The advantages of such a product:

 • the ability to knit not only with knitting needles, but also by hand;
 • softness, airiness and lightness;
 • untreated woolen yarn adds style.

The disadvantages include:

 • During knitting, the tops may break, because this is not finished yarn.
 • The threads are strongly pushed, they can fall apart into separate fibers and, as a result, get tangled. This makes knitting very difficult.
 • It is difficult to care for a thing made of a combed ribbon: it is prohibited to wash it.

The tops can be replaced with spun woolen threads. It will be easier to knit from them. Such a blanket holds its shape much longer. It can be washed. In addition, the spun yarns hardly break or cough.

In addition to the threads, you will need special thick knitting needles. You can see a detailed description of how to knit a blanket with your own hands in specialized magazines and the Internet.

Blanket of squares

This option is optimal for those who have just started knitting. Making small squares is much easier than making a huge sheet. In addition, this method is a kind of "insurance" against making mistakes. An improperly knitted motif is easier to bandage than to remodel a large bedspread.

Another plus is the ability to knit in any situation, because the fragments are small and fit easily in a bag. In addition to all of the above, for each fragment you can choose your own pattern, pattern, as well as threads.

In other words, knitting from squares will make all your fantasies come true. This is a good practice for different knitting styles.

Cozy blanket made of leftover threads

If you are not new to knitting, then you probably have a lot of thread leftovers. The hand does not rise to get rid of them, and what to do with them is a question. Motive knitting allows you to put everything on the blanket. Different texture of the used yarn will only emphasize the originality of the product.

For example, a piece of plush surrounded by grass-knitted segments combined with wool sectors will look very sophisticated and stylish. And, if you have threads of the same texture, but in different colors, then you can make a wonderful double-sided blanket.

Whichever master class on knitting a blanket you would choose, the basic order of work is as follows:

 • Calculation of the required number of loops.
 • The choice of the main and secondary pattern.
 • Calculation of the required amount of yarn.
 • Only after that you can start knitting.

Photo instruction on how to knit a blanket

Plaid has always been, is and will be an essential accessory for almost any home. Some people think that it is only suitable for heating. Plaids can also be created purely for decorative purposes and laid over plain bedspreads. In our selection of crochet blanket videos, you will find many ideas and options for knitting products.

Ways to crochet a blanket

There are many ways to crochet a blanket. The most common is a collection of motifs linked separately, in other words, patchwork. It allows you not to "sink" in kilometers of knitted fabric. However, there is no less relevant and interesting technique - C2C or Corner to Corner. This method uses crochet stitches from the corner. Using this method, you can create very beautiful patterns, which is important if you have patience and small children in the house. Moreover, ideas for creativity can be borrowed from ordinary embroidery. They also knit blankets with one cloth. You can find a detailed master class on creating a plaid in our video selection.

The craftswoman can choose absolutely any material for creating a blanket:

 • Thinner cotton threads are suitable for decorative patterns.
 • Products made of thick woolen or semi-woolen threads will save you from the cold in winter.
 • If the plaid is still knitted for a child, it is better to give preference to semi-synthetic threads. Artificial additions will strengthen the blanket and allow it to withstand a large number of washes.

Often questions are raised by the size of the hook, namely, how to select it correctly to create certain products. It is enough to follow two rules here:

 1. If it is necessary to knit a thick blanket, then its thickness should be approximately equal to the thickness of the threads folded in half.
 2. For openwork and air knitting, it is more relevant to arm yourself with a thicker crochet.

Especially for those who are faced with the need to crochet a blanket for the first time, manufacturers prudently indicate the necessary information on the thread tag. There you can check which tool number is best for the specific material.
