The date of September 28 was not chosen by chance. It was on this day in 1942 that the USSR State Defense Committee issued an order "On the organization of work on uranium" and approved the creation of a special atomic nuclear laboratory at the Academy of Sciences.

The Russian nuclear industry is one of the leading in the world in terms of scientific and technical developments in the design of reactors, nuclear fuel, operating experience of nuclear power plants, and qualifications of nuclear power plant personnel. The industry's enterprises have accumulated vast experience in solving large-scale tasks, such as the creation of the world's first nuclear power plant (1954) and the development of fuel for it.
