The drug can be found in cosmetic stores, pharmacies, and oriental spice departments, but by preparing a miracle remedy with your own hands, you can not worry and be sure that the product does not contain alcohol, preservatives or other chemical additives. It is better to pick petals from flowers collected in your own garden or from friends. The most fragrant varieties of tea roses are suitable for preparation. Plants must be grown without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers.

It is recommended to collect rose petals early in the morning in dry weather directly on the day of preparing the hydrolate. You can use wild plants: Crimean or Bulgarian rose, rose hips. In this case, collect flowers away from the road, those that have not absorbed dust and toxic exhaust from cars. All petals must be carefully sorted, discarding damaged ones.

Cooking recipes

To prepare flower water, you need to place flower petals on the bottom of a large saucepan in several layers and add boiled water. After this, you can do it in two ways:

  1. Place an empty glass bowl inside so that its edges are located a few centimeters above the level of the boiling liquid, cover the pan with an inverted lid. Heat over low heat. Once boiling, fill the upside down lid with ice. Boil the petals for an hour. If necessary, you can periodically add water and ice. The steam will condense on the cold surface of the inverted lid, flowing directly into the bowl. This will be the finished hydrolate.
  2. Cover the pan with a lid and heat over low heat until the petals lose color. This may take half an hour or more. When the flowers become transparent, squeeze them and strain the resulting liquid.

The liquid prepared according to these recipes must be poured into a sterile glass container, tightly closed and stored in a cool place. Keep in mind that it is necessary to pour the hydrosol before it has cooled down. Natural rose water for the face at home can be stored for more than a year, perfectly preserving the color, taste, aroma and all its beneficial properties.

Rose petal water (rose water, rose hydrosol) is a natural antiseptic that is obtained by steam distillation of essential oil. You can combine water with any essential oils you like to make creams, such as orange oil for shinier skin, but in its pure form it is also good as a gentle tonic.

Rose water recipes

Store-bought roses are not suitable for preparing rose water due to the use of special solutions and pesticides for long-term storage. Therefore, if you want to make a quality product, you should collect petals from roses grown in your own garden or borrowed from the garden of friends and relatives.

It is best to collect petals from fragrant bushes in the morning, in dry weather, when you decide to prepare rose water. After which all petals must be carefully checked and damaged ones removed.

Next, you need to move the mass of petals into a large saucepan and fill them with water so that the liquid slightly covers the top layer of rose petals. Then simply cover with a lid, place on the stove and turn on the heat.

As soon as signs of boiling appear, you should reduce the heat and wait until the petals fade. This can happen within an hour, possibly more. After this, pour the water into another bowl, strain the petals and squeeze them out.

There you go! All that remains is to pour the prepared rose water into bottles and seal them so that excess air does not get in. It should be stored in a cool and dark place, in which the water will retain all its properties and wonderful smell for a long time.

Immediately pour the water prepared according to one of these recipes into a previously sterilized bottle and seal tightly. The hydrosol should be stored in the refrigerator or other cool, dark place, preferably in a glass container. With this storage, rose water prepared at home perfectly retains not only its smell, but also its beneficial properties throughout the year.

How to create rose water at home?

Water from the petals is often used in the production of cosmetics. This is explained by the fact that the liquid has a light aroma and has astringent properties. Rose water is a very gentle remedy. Even those with dry skin can safely use it.

Choose rose water with caution, beware of fakes! It often happens that even in pharmacies they sell not natural water, but artificial oil diluted with water (often also containing preservatives). Natural water is produced through distillation. This liquid always has a special aroma and pleasant taste.

Instead of purchasing rose water, you can prepare it yourself. Of course, it’s easier to buy it (but not a fact, because you also need to choose carefully) than to make it yourself. However, the process of creating something of your own is always exciting! In just one go, you can create about a liter of excellent quality rose water. And it only takes a couple of hours! Amazing, right? But do not forget that even here accuracy and care are important.

You will need:

  • brick;
  • a heat-resistant vessel made of glass or metal (make sure it is free of rust);
  • 2-3 liters of petals;
  • water;
  • ice crumbs (or cubes).

Preparation

  1. Place a fire brick in the center of the pan with the lid upside down. Place the vessel on the brick.
  2. Pour the flower petals into the pan. Make sure they reach the brick. Fill the pan with water until the petals are completely covered. The water should also cover the top of the brick. Place the lid upside down on top.
  3. Turn on the stove, wait until the water boils, then reduce the heat to low. When the water starts to boil, throw a couple of ice cubes on the lid. Now you have a real distillation apparatus!
  4. Every time the water boils, steam rises to the lid. After cooling with ice, it turns into condensate. It then flows to the center of the lid, dripping into the vessel. Every 20 minutes, lift the lid, taking a couple of spoons of the resulting water.
  5. Stop the process when you get the amount of liquid you need.

Conclusion about rose water

Positive traits rose water cannot be overstated. It is used both to maintain natural beauty and to restore internal health. This product is available on the shelves of most stores. It costs, by the way, mere pennies.

When women had a small choice of industrial cosmetics, they sought to purchase them at all costs. When these products filled store shelves in huge quantities, ladies began to think about natural cosmetics made with their own hands.

One of the most popular handmade products today is rose water. It is fragrant, infinitely pleasant due to its smell and tenderness, and is also good for the skin. Rose water is used as a remedy for the face and body. Which rejuvenates, moisturizes and improves mood.

The use of rose water in cosmetology

The answer to the question of what rose water is needed for lies in its composition. It consists of only two ingredients - ordinary water and rose petals.

Rose water dates back to the times of ancient medicine: it was described by Hippocrates and Avicenna as a remedy that cools and soothes the skin. It was popular in Ancient Rome and Persia, saving beauties from the hot rays of the sun on hot days.

Today in Europe, rose water is obtained in France, where 3 pounds of roses and 24 buckets of water are used. In Germany, the concentration of rose water is different - they use 1 part water and 6 parts roses for preparation. This is the highest concentration available for rose water. If you increase it, then the water contains oil impurities.

Properties of rose water are beneficial for the face:

  1. The cleansing properties of rose water help to use the product as a tonic - the final stage of cleansing.
  2. Rose water gives the skin elasticity due to hydration, and therefore it is recommended for all girls over 25 years old - it is at this age that the skin begins to slowly age.
  3. Rose water improves complexion - it saturates the skin with beneficial substances that activate renewal processes, and therefore, with long-term and constant use of rose water, you can achieve a uniform complexion.
  4. Rose water also helps prevent skin from feeling tight if used before applying.
  5. Rose water will also help soothe the skin after sunbathing - it has a weak cooling property.
  6. Another advantage of rose water is its ability to relieve inflammation, and therefore girls with problem skin may find it useful.
  7. Daily use of rose water helps eliminate bags and dark circles under the eyes.

Thus, rose water can eventually replace many cosmetic products - serums to improve complexion, creams to eliminate bags and dark circles under the eyes, tonics for acne and others.

How to make rose water?

To use rose water on your face, you can buy a ready-made product, or make it yourself.

First of all, you need to prepare the rose petals. Typically, essential oil varieties of roses are used to create rose water (among them Bourbon Rose). From these roses they are created, and rose water is made as a by-product.

To obtain rose water, the method of water distillation is used - distillation of liquid. The valuable thing in this craft is the condensate, which is rose water. It’s not difficult to do this at home:

  1. Collect the required number of rose petals (the more there are, the richer the water).
  2. Then place them in a low saucepan and add a little water so that the roses do not fry on the fire.
  3. Place a shallow but wide container in the center of the pan (you can use a deep plate if it is smaller in diameter than the pan) - it will serve as a vessel that will collect condensation - rose water. The container must be clean, as should all devices used to obtain rose water.
  4. Then cover the pot with an inverted lid so that the handle fits into the center of the container to collect the rose water.
  5. Turn the heat to low and wait until the rose water collects.
  6. Then cool the resulting condensate, add a few drops of lemon to extend the shelf life of the water and use the product for your own purposes.
