Christmas balls made of colored paper. Air paper ball. Paper strip ball

To make the interior of your home stylish and original, it is not necessary to decorate it with purchased items. You can make decorations with your own hands - this will not only provide a pleasant and interesting pastime, but will also help create a festive atmosphere in the house with the right mood. At the same time, the color scheme of the holiday is thought out and exactly the decor that suits this significant day is created. In addition, purchased jewelry is monotonous, but homemade jewelry is one of a kind.

One of the simplest solutions is . The technique for making these crafts is not complicated, it does not take much time, and the cost of material is small. And the paper balls look grandiose - they fill the entire space, amaze the imagination - it seems that it is impossible to do this by hand, the balls look so unhandicraft.

From the history of the appearance of paper balls

China is considered the birthplace of paper balls. Flying paper lanterns have been made there for a long time; they are still very popular today - they are launched into the air by placing oil lamps inside. Glowing lanterns flying into the night sky and disappearing among the stars somewhere in the clouds illuminated by the moon are a fascinating sight. Chinese paper lanterns later inspired the idea of making paper balls. They began to decorate festive events in America and Europe.

Today, all over the world, it is a trend to create interiors for celebrations with decor from paper garlands, flowers and balloons. Products made from multi-colored and shiny paper look elegant, fragile and weightless. It’s easy to decorate a room, because paper balls weigh almost nothing. In addition, paper is an environmentally friendly material that does not pollute the environment; it is recyclable, that is, the use of paper decorations helps to save nature. In general, paper balls are one of the trends in modern fashion in the design of festive and ceremonial interiors.

Types of paper balls

Paper balls are used to decorate rooms; they can be selected thematically according to the manufacturing method and colors. For example, multi-colored balloons are suitable for a children's birthday, and a wedding hall can be decorated with balloons in pastel colors. It is considered stylish to hang balloons of the same color but different sizes in a room. You can decorate a Christmas tree with small paper balls. The technique for making paper balls is different, and they all look interesting in different ways.

Balls are made from:

  • paper circles;
  • made of paper pyramids sewn together at the ends (in Japanese - “kusudama”).

You can also make a paper accordion ball and an “origami ball.” But first, you should master the two simplest techniques on small balls - a ball made of paper circles and a ball made of paper strips.

Preparing for work

In order for the work to immediately begin to progress, you first need to stock up on everything necessary for needlework. You will need the following materials and tools:

  • a pack of colored paper;
  • double-sided tape or adhesive stick;
  • satin ribbon;
  • a sheet of thick cardboard;
  • spool of sewing thread;
  • scissors;
  • sewing needle;
  • stapler;
  • compass (can be replaced with a cup or saucer and simply draw circles around them);
  • for decoration - shiny sequins.

When choosing materials you need to pay attention to some things. When buying colored paper, you should look at the density of the sheets - they should be of medium density. If the paper is too thin, the ball may wrinkle or tear at the folds. Sheets that are too dense are difficult to bend neatly along the lines.

Regular colored paper can be replaced with corrugated paper - the ball will seem openwork and even more airy. Interesting crafts are made from colored paper “in silence” - this kind of paper is used to make cigarettes, it is very thin and transparent, for each element of the ball you will need to take it in several layers. But the balls made from silence look very gentle.

Thick cardboard is needed to make a circle template (stencil). Having decided on the size of the balls, draw a circle of the required diameter on cardboard using a compass or saucer and cut it out. Using this blank, draw circles on colored paper.

A satin ribbon in making balloons is not a small thing at all, but an important accessory that gives the craft a complete look. For small balls you will need a narrow ribbon. The color of the ribbon should be in harmony with the color scheme of the ball.

Step-by-step instructions for making a ball from paper circles

  1. Take a few pieces of colored paper. It is important that they are colored on both sides, then the ball will look beautiful from all angles.
  2. Draw circles on paper using a pre-prepared stencil of the required diameter. Carefully cut out circles.
  3. There should be 48 circles - 12 circles of four different colors.
  4. Bend each circle in half along its diameter and stack them on top of each other.
  5. Using a needle and thread, sew the ball blank along the joint line with a tight stitch (you can simply fasten the circles with a stapler).
  6. The final stage is the most painstaking: all adjacent semicircles must be carefully glued together with an adhesive pencil (easier and faster - with pieces of double-sided tape). That is, to make it clear, if only two circles bent in half were glued together, then they would have to be glued to each other only in halves so that when you straighten them, you get a base of a circle with a vertical partition in the middle of a semicircle. And when gluing a ball of 48 circles, all circles must be glued with both halves and the neighboring halves. When the last two circles remain, the workpiece will look like a fan on a round base. When gluing the halves of these last two circles, the craft will automatically straighten into a ball.
  7. For a satin ribbon of the required length (there will be a loop from it - you can make any length, depending on where the craft will be hung), cut the edges with a sharp hot knife so that they do not unravel. The knife can be heated over the gas burner of a kitchen stove, in the fire of a candle or lighter.

Now all that remains is to straighten the workpiece so that the “petals” are at an equal distance from each other. Make a hole in one of the “petals”, thread a ribbon into it and tie it with a bow or a neat knot. The paper ball is ready.

Step-by-step instructions for making a ball from paper strips

  1. Take several sheets of colored paper and cut them into strips 1.0-1.5 cm wide (if the ball is small, like a Christmas tree decoration) along the length of the sheet.
  2. You can use paper of the same color, or you can take different colors - then the ball will turn out bright, cheerful and elegant.
  3. Take one strip and connect its ends to make a ring. Where the ends meet, you need to make an allowance and fasten them with a stapler or glue them with an adhesive pencil (you can use a piece of double-sided tape). It's easier to work with double-sided tape, but a glue stick is cheaper. It’s even easier to use a stapler, but in a small craft, the staples will be very noticeable and the ball will look sloppy.
  4. Take the second strip of paper, turn it into a ring in the same way as in the previous step, and pass it at a right angle into the first ring. Fasten both rings together with glue, tape or a stapler.
  5. Add ring after ring in the same way to form a ball.
  6. Glue sequins onto the paper strips so that the ball swinging on the ribbon shimmers. As an option, you can cover the ball with appliques, for example, if it is a children's party, and the ball is large in size, with figures of cartoon characters.
  7. Thread a ribbon through one of the strips so that the ball can be hung.

Having mastered these two simple manufacturing techniques on small paper balls, you can move on to real creative work - larger sizes, try more complex techniques and decorate the interior of your home.

In addition to the fact that making paper balls with your own hands is an aesthetic pleasure, it also has practical benefits. Having taught your child how to make balls, you can leave him alone at this activity for two hours and do chores around the house. In addition, the activity develops fine motor skills and children's imagination. And if you make balloons with your children in preparation for the holiday, they will also feel their importance - after all, along with adults, they took part in preparing the general fun.

Surely each of us in the school geometry course went through a section on spheres and balls. Ball - this figure is quite popular, for example, our planet also looks like a ball and the sun is spherical. Magicians and sorcerers use spherical crystals to predict the future. Every New Year we decorate the Christmas tree with balls. All this is because the ball has positive energy. So let's add a little positivity to our home and decorate it with balloons. We don’t need anything special for this, because we’ll try to make paper balls with our own hands.

There are a great many options for making such balls; you just need to master a couple of techniques and only then start decorating the interior of your home.

Ball of paper circles

  1. Take three multi-colored sheets of double-sided paper that match the color of your interior.
  2. Cut out 4 identical circles of each color for each future ball. There will be a total of 12 circles for one ball.
  3. Fold each circle in half and then put it in a common pile.
  4. Unbend the circles. You will end up with a stack of circles with a fold stripe in the middle.
  5. Using a stapler, fasten all the circles along the fold line.
  6. Then straighten the semicircles to get a three-dimensional object.
  7. Glue the upper part of the semicircle with the previous semicircle, and the lower part with the next one, as shown in the figure.
  8. You will end up with a ball.

Place the balls in this pattern

It should be noted that if you do not fasten and stack the cut out circles, but simply glue them together sequentially, you will also get a ball, but of a slightly different shape. Such a ball can also be a wonderful decoration for any interior.

And you get such a wonderful decoration for your home.

If you cut out only eight large circles and one small one, fold them in half twice, then glue the resulting parts to a small circle, then you will get a ball of no less interesting shape than in the first two options. As they say, there is no limit to perfection and imagination. Using this method, you can make many other interesting crafts that will certainly delight you with their original appearance.

You can attach a thick colored thread to these balls and string a few more balls on it - you get a beautiful hanging decoration that can be attached to the ceiling in a child’s room, or hung on a curtain to transform the curtains.

  1. This colored paper ball is made from long cut strips. Cut them out as shown in the picture.
  2. First fasten one of them into a ring using a stapler or glue.
  3. Pass the second strip through the first and fasten so that the rings intersect at right angles.
  4. Add the remaining stripes and make a ball.
  5. Decorate the ball with tinsel, beads, and braid as desired.

Such a ball will be a wonderful decoration for a New Year tree, which will also be, and its advantage is that the manufacturing technique is simple, and therefore you can make paper balls with your own hands together with your child - this will create a great mood before the holiday.

Balls using quilling technique

Quite complex, but lovely balls are obtained by combining the quilling technique and your rich imagination. The first thing you need to do to create your own masterpiece is to learn the technique itself. Then use your artistic taste, work a little, and you will end up with just a work of art.

A ball made using the quilling technique looks simply amazing, despite the ease of production.

To create a creative balloon, we will need several newspapers, preferably with black and white text rather than color, scissors, a glue brush, stationery glue, a balloon, and a sheet of printer paper.

  1. Inflate the balloon so that it has a round shape. Make the size of the ball the same as the final paper ball.
  2. Tear or use scissors to cut the newspaper into small pieces.
  3. Using a brush, coat pieces of newspaper with glue and stick them to the ball in several layers, the last layer is pieces of white printer paper.
  4. Under no circumstances should you cover the tail of the ball; it should remain outside.
  5. Let the workpiece dry. This will take several hours.
  6. Pierce the ball in the dried workpiece and remove the remaining parts out.
  7. Attach a thread to the hole of the paper product and disguise it with paper, tinsel, or a bow.
  8. Decorate the ball as you wish.

If you know how to draw and want to make an unusual ball, then you can not paste over the blank with white paper, but simply leave the ball from the newspaper and depict, for example, animals on it, then you will get funny, creative balls that the guests of your home will appreciate.

  1. Take 6-8 sheets of corrugated paper of the same shade. It is better to start with single-color products, and once you understand the principle of their manufacture, you can vary the color shades, making them more complex and exclusive.
  2. Fold each one like an accordion. Mark the middle and carefully fasten it with thread and wire.
  3. Please note that the finished decoration will have a diameter that is equal to the width of the selected paper sheet. Reducing this value is simple: cut figuratively along the edges to the desired size.
  4. The unfolding process will captivate not only adults, but also children. Show how to carefully and slowly fluff each layer like a fan so that your child can repeat it. A real miracle will be born literally before the eyes of those who decide to make pom-poms with their own hands.

Think in advance about the diameter of the ball you need. Cut a circle of this diameter from cardboard and cut it in half.

  1. Prepare a template as shown in the picture. To do this, take a thick sheet of cardboard and use a breadboard knife to make slits at equal distances. This value will determine the width of the cells of the future cellular ball. Using two markers of different colors, highlight the lines.
  2. To create quiet balls, take a stack of sheets of the same size, corresponding to the size of the circle. Usually, for a lush and beautiful product, they take from 40 to 50 leaves.
  3. Now let's start gluing! Take the first leaf from the stack, place a template with slots on it and carefully apply glue only along the markings of one color. Remove the template and place the next sheet of paper. Smooth it out so it sticks to the previous one.
  4. At this stage you will glue along the slots of a different color. So, alternating the order of gluing, you will assemble the entire structure.
  5. Glue two semicircles at the beginning and end of the craft to give strength to the entire product.
  6. Carefully sew the upper and lower corners of the semicircles with thread, fastening them together. This is necessary for the ball to turn around. Additionally, on one of the tops, attach a fishing line or ribbon, from which you plan to hang the paper honeycomb balls.
  7. Hold the craft with both hands and open it, and glue the edges again. And if you plan to use this decor multiple times, then sew on ribbons.

How to make a three-dimensional ball out of paper. You can make a very beautiful toy in the shape of a ball from multi-colored paper. They can be used to decorate a birthday party, a party, or simply hang on the Christmas tree in the New Year.

Making a three-dimensional ball is much easier than you think, try it.

We will need:

  1. Thin colored paper (tissue paper), or maybe not colored.
  2. Thin cardboard or a sheet of thick paper.
  3. Glue stick.
  4. Scissors.
  5. Needle and thread.

You need to make a template from paper or thick cardboard the size of the ball, draw a circle on the paper, then cut out the ball, and then cut the ball into two equal parts. These parts will serve as a template for us, and later they will become parts of our craft.

Now we will need rectangles of colored tissue paper, either in different colors or plain ones. Each piece of paper should be slightly larger than our template (half a circle). In total you will need 40-50 pieces.

Then we place a piece of colored paper on a sheet of white paper. We divide a sheet of colored paper along the long side into four parts (can be into any number of parts at a distance of 3-4 centimeters). In accordance with this breakdown, we draw vertical, parallel lines on a sheet of white paper on both sides of the colored paper blank. We draw lines in two colors, alternating colors, using two colored felt-tip pens for this.

Next, apply strips of glue to colored paper, perpendicular to the larger side of the rectangle. The lines on the white sheet will help us with this. We apply glue, as if connecting two pieces of white paper on opposite sides of a rectangle of colored paper into a single line. But we do this only with every second pair of segments, starting from the left, they will all be the same color (for this you need two felt-tip pens). Then we adjust the next sheet of colored paper, glue it on top, and repeat the procedure until the sheets run out, without smearing the last sheet with glue. If you want, a ball of four colors for 40 sheets, 10 sheets of the same color in a row will do.

Then, using the template, we give the workpiece the shape of a semicircle.

We glue our semicircle templates on both sides to the workpiece. The inside of the cardboard template can be embedded, and you can also trim it a little on the outside so that the colored paper hides it completely.

After that, using a needle, we pierce our workpiece on both sides, thread it and tie it into a knot, wrapping it around the flat edge of the workpiece.

Do not tighten the knot, it will create a slack, a small loop.

Holding the workpiece by the cardboard, we slowly unfold our volumetric ball.

The last step is to glue the cardboards together using glue. As a result, an interesting thing turns out from simple paper.
