Launch of the first prada women's shoe collection. History of the Prada brand. LG Prada mobile phone

Prada is one of the most famous fashion houses of our time, which every season pleases fashionistas and fashionistas not only with new collections of clothes, but also with collections of accessories, shoes, perfumes and, more recently, gadgets. But it all started as a small bag shop in Milan, and like all established brands, Prada's development path was not easy. Today we take a look at what the Prada story really is.

History of Prada
It was 1913, when an almost unknown Mario Prada decided to open a small shop in Milan and sell elegant travel bags of his own production there. This is how the first Prada store appeared in Milan, by the way, the headquarters of the Prada fashion house is still located in Milan. Thanks to the use of exotic materials, namely soft walrus leather, Prada quickly gained popularity among the elite throughout Europe and subsequently around the world. At that time, the trademark was called "Fratelli Prada", which meant Prada Brothers. Only when the daughter of Mario - Louise Prada became the head of the company, the brand received the modern abbreviated name Prada.

Louise Prada

In 1958, Louise Prada, the daughter of the founder of the fashion house, Mario Prada, becomes the head of the company and determines new trends in the development of the brand - entering new markets, or rather the American accessories market. Subsequently, Prada entered the American market in 1970. The most attractive for American aristocrats of that time was the use of exclusive materials for the manufacture and decoration of Prada bags - crystals, expensive woods and tortoise shells. But despite the elegance and exclusivity, Prada bags seemed bulky for everyday use and sales were very poor.

Miuccia Prada at the head of the fashion house
In 1979, when the Prada fashion house was threatened with a financial crisis, it was decided to appoint Miuchia Prada, the granddaughter of the Prada brand creator, as the head of the company. Subsequently, this decision will lead Prada to the world famous brand that the company is now.

Miuccia Prada

Having slightly tightened the financial position of the company, the new director of Prada, Miuchiya, decides to create a new direction in the manufactured products - ready-made designer clothes.

First Prada Collection
After many years, or rather 10 years after the appointment of Mario Prada's granddaughter as director of the company, Prada decides to master a new product segment - designer clothes, and in 1989 Prada debuts the first pret-a-porte collection of designer clothes. This collection was designed in soothing colors and the predominant color was black. All lines were simple and elegant without any sharp transitions, cuts or contrasts. Literally immediately after the release of the first collection of ready-to-wear, Prada received its regular customers who preferred elegant chic in clothes and accessories.

It was thanks to the first collection of clothes that Prada gained fame not only as an accessories brand, but also as a brand of chic and elegant designer clothes.

Miuccia Prada's main brand was doing well, but not all niches were closed in terms of apparel and accessories. Prada has already attempted to fill the niche of youth fashion, but has not been able to raise even the level of self-sufficiency and pay off the debts that the loss-making Roman fashion house Fendi had after buying Prada fashion house. Prada sold its stake in Rome-based fashion house Fendi to French company LVMH in the early 90s, saving Fendi's massive maintenance costs.
In 1992, Prada decides to create its own youth brand Miu Miu, the name of which was coined from the abbreviation of the name Miuchia Prada. At the moment, Miu Miu release fashionable designer clothes at affordable prices, but that's another story ...
Fashion housePradaexpands the scope of activities
In the early 1990s, Prada expanded its accessories line with its own design and branded sunglasses. Interestingly, the glasses were produced in thick square frames of various colors, which at that time looked very strange and for this they received the nickname “Ugly Prada”. But over time, everyone got used to the unusual novelty and it was these glasses that became the hallmark of Prada.
Later, in collaboration with the Spanish company PUIG, the Prada fashion house acquires its own line of perfumes.
Already in May 2007, Prada, together with LG Electronics, a manufacturer of cell phones and household appliances, released the first phone under the Prada brand, the model was called LG Prada (KE 850). The cost of the phone was $800, which meant that the phone was not available to the average buyer, and only rich people, who were Prada's main buyers, could afford it.

Subsequently, 2 more Prada phones were released by the same manufacturer - LG Prada 2 (KF 900) in 2009 and LG Prada 3 (P 940) based on Android at the end of 2011.

BrandPrada. Modernity
At the moment, Prada is one of the world's largest brands in the production and sale of luxury clothing, shoes and accessories, or premium, as they like to call it in our countries. Prada has many stores and boutiques under its own brand all over the world, in particular, 10 boutiques and 2 large branded stores in America in cities with a population of over a million, such as New York, Los Angeles, Washington, etc.
Also, Prada is working on a franchise with many retail chains for retailing clothes, shoes and accessories, which allows fashionistas and fashionistas to enjoy Prada products almost anywhere in the world. You can see all the addresses of branded stores of different brands in our section "Addresses of branded stores"

It is probably difficult to find a person who has at least a remote idea of \u200b\u200bfashion, but at the same time has never heard of Prada. The world-famous Fashion House is now engaged in a wide variety of clothing, both women's and men's, shoes, perfumes and accessories. Brand Prada also flaunts on the company's mobile phones LG(LG Prada could go down in history as the world's first finger-friendly phone) on a wristwatch. This name has firmly entered the culture and is periodically mentioned in the media (it seems that everyone has watched the film The Devil Wears Prada, based on the novel of the same name).

And it all started with a small leather goods shop Fratelli Prada (it. "Brothers Prada"), which opened in 1913 in Milan (Milan, Italy) - there to this day is the headquarters Prada S.p.A. Founded by brothers Mario and Martino Prada (Mario and Martino Prada). At first, the assortment was based on suitcases and travel bags exported from the UK, on which the brand was placed. Fratelli Prada. But the store did not sell everything in a row - the brothers initially relied on high-quality stylish products that were not available to everyone. The calculation turned out to be correct - quite quickly Fratelli Prada becomes one of the famous brands in the fashion world. By 1970 he comes to the USA and Latin America.

However, it's one thing to be just famous, another to become a trendsetter. It is not known what it would be now Prada, if not for Miuccia Prada, Mario's granddaughter. She took over the board in 1979. However, she did not carry out the coup alone, but in alliance with businessman Patrizio Bertelli, whom she met in 1977. Together they did Prada what the brand is now. The relationship between Miucia and Patrizio was not limited to business only - in 1987 they got married.

First of all, Miuchiya has expanded its product range by adding leather accessories and clothing. It took quite a long time, because such things are not carried out overnight. First clothing collection Prada(and developed by Miuchiya herself) was introduced in 1988. The public took it with a bang. Thus, a new brand was born, replacing Fratelli Prada.

One of the features of the brand Prada is the desire to preserve traditions. So, all manufactured products are extremely expensive. When it was necessary to create a line of inexpensive youth clothing, it was decided not to dilute the Prada, but to create a new brand - this is how the brand appeared in 1992 miu miu .

To date, the brand Prada is a synonym for success and prosperity. Brand boutiques of the brand can be found in many cities around the world. Many of these stores have been designed by well-known architects. About success Prada says the fact that this particular fashion brand is the leader in the number of fakes.

Recently, I thought that maybe it would be nice to re-watch the movie The Devil Wears Prada. A really interesting film with a lot of references to the world of fashion. And the main character, who is so similar to Anna Wintour, however, is not surprising, because the book on which the film was made was written by Wintour's former assistant. And Demarchelier, who could not help but be mentioned. And, of course, Prada. It is no coincidence that the main character of this film is dressed in Prada, because Prada is a strict style, straight lines, clear silhouettes, rough materials. Clothing is a fortress. Clothing for an iron lady, however, is too soft, more likely for a steel lady.

Today, Prada produces both clothes and accessories, shoes, and in 2007 Prada even released its own LG Prada (KE850), which was sold for $800. Prada is both a fashion house and a trademark. Prada is headquartered in Milan.

The history of Prada began at the beginning of the 20th century, more precisely in 1913, when a man named Mario Prada opened a small shop where he sold travel bags. That's right, the history of Prada began with bags. Mario Prado also used soft walrus skin, a very exotic material, for the manufacture of bags, which attracted wealthy customers. At that time the company was called Prada Brothers. After the death of Mario, his daughter, Luisa Prada, takes over the management of the company. It happened in 1958. At the same time, the company gets its name, known to this day - Prada.

By the 1970s, Prada produces truly luxurious bags: decorated with crystals, rare woods, but they no longer bring their former income, and Prada also begins to produce clothes.

Bags and perfumes from Prada

In 1973, the family business was headed by the granddaughter of Mario Prada - Miuccia (Miuccia) Prada. It was under Miuccia that Prada gained worldwide fame. A line of youth clothing was also launched - Miu Miu, short for Miuchiya's name. Prada also took up the production of sunglasses, in bulky square frames in bright colors. Such glasses were immediately dubbed "ugly Prada", but after a while they became real symbols of the brand.

Miuccia Prada was born on May 10, 1949. She is the youngest granddaughter of Mario Prada, the founder of the company. Miuccia Doctor of Political Science and Philosophy. In her youth, she joined the Italian Communist Party and actively fought for the rights of the women of Milan. Married. Her husband Patrizio Bertelli, a former salesman, is now also actively involved in the management of the family business, Prada.

Miuccia Prada is today called one of the most influential designers in the fashion world, "the first lady of Italian fashion", she is also modest and intelligent. Doesn't like talking to reporters. Her interviews are a rarity. At the shows, she only peeks out from behind the curtains for a second on the podium, explaining that it would be stupid of her: “wading around the podium after all my luxurious fashion models is not a good idea.” In her opinion, “a designer cannot be successful if, in addition to his main collections, he does not create at least shoes and bags.” When asked if she wears clothes from other designers, in one of her few interviews, Miuccia Prada replied that yes, but only if "they are either dead or poor." When asked what is the secret of her success, Miuccia invariably answers only that "she just lives."

The new collection of clothes Miuccia Parada "Autumn-Winter 2012-2013", which was shown in Milan, was dedicated to power. In her new collection, the designer asked herself the question of how power is dressed, and decided to give men more power and power with their clothes. There are many elegant coats, white shirts, formal suits, vests in this collection. And movie stars, for example, Willem Dafoe, Garrett Hedlund, Tim Roth, Adrien Brody, acted as representatives of power on the podium. The scenery was a screen on which there was an image of the Palace of Power, illuminated by neon lights.
