If all the troubles, tragedies, sad events that happened in personal and family life and the life of the country are perceived as the result of patience, then this is a direct path to resentment towards the whole world.

Common sense, the experience of many generations, tells us: there are situations when tolerance becomes connivance for sloppiness, laziness, and criminal inactivity. I foresee a question, it is logical: why, why do good, innocent people suffer? Why do they so often find themselves dependent on other, careless or simply lazy “specialists”? It is our civil right to make statements and complaints, to make facts public, to talk about what is really happening.

And one more thing needs to be said about one of our human phenomena. People are often ready to cover up the worst act of a minor official, just so as not to spoil relations “for the future.” This is not patience, but covering up. This is a guarantee that a person who commits, for example, official violations will repeat them and believe in his impunity.

“How, still alive?!”

... My mother took care of her husband, my father, for eighteen years. He was a disabled person of the first group. Doctors sometimes did not hide their surprise: how is he still alive?! And they often told my mother that she knew as well as any doctor what drugs and in what dosages to administer in cases of complications. My mother, a simple woman, when necessary, boldly went to the head of the clinic, to the head doctors, and received referrals for my father for examinations at the republican hospital. By God's grace and my mother's care, my father lived to the age of 74 and died peacefully, in a clear state, waiting for his mother to come to his room.

I can only guess how much patience my grandmother, who gave birth to twelve children, needed in her life. But I remember her not complaining, but always at work - sewing, preparing dinner, writing letters to numerous relatives.

I think there is a very productive, very promising point of view on most problematic situations: if a problem has arisen in front of me, in front of my family, and it inevitably has to be solved, then it must be... solved. This, at a minimum, means that a person includes his internal previously unused (maybe previously unknown to him) resources. As they say, we use our heads! We determine how, with whom, and in what sequence we will act.

From patience comes experience, from experience comes hope.

An active, persistent person evokes not only respect (“Wow, what a character!”). He has more allies, those who are willing and able to help. They pay more attention to him in bureaucratic offices, in hospitals, in transport, in housing and communal services, and so on.

For people who draw spiritual knowledge from Scripture, there are wise words that must be memorized from childhood: “Patience brings experience, and experience brings hope.” (Romans, chapter 5, verse 4). Muslims are well aware that sabr (patience - Arabic) is half of religion. Without patience, it is impossible to understand the essence of life, religion, professional knowledge, to understand other people and... oneself.

Learning patience means acquiring new character traits - perseverance, consistency, the ability to navigate new circumstances. That is, the psychophysiological characteristics of a person change, the structure of his personality is updated. By gaining new experience, we really gain confidence that we can cope with many problems. Think about it: confidence is the basis of hope. For many years, my neighbor in the dacha was the modest, hardworking Valentina. Walking out onto the porch on a summer morning, I already saw her on the site. She usually covered her head with a white scarf so that the sun would not be so hot, and hurried to dig, plant, and weed. Her white scarf was a kind of symbol for me, a call: don’t be late, do everything on time!

Then the busy woman went to prepare dinner and look after her dear mother, who lived to be 92 years old.
